Black Single Women Dating Should Make Health a Priority

Black single women dating in the millennium want to experience the best dating experiences. In order to do this, they know that it’s necessary to plan ahead. Before going on an important date, women shop for the right makeup and may spend time at the hair salon. Shopping is usually a fun event that culminates in purchasing the right outfit with the right shoes.

Yet long before getting ready to date, Black single women dating should take into account their health. Many women hit the gym to shed unwanted pounds. You can also spot them jogging along the side of the road.

Women are watching their caloric intake too, and for good reason. Researchers state that the risks associated with excess body fat include a higher incidence of heart disease, high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, stroke, type 2 diabetes, and some types of cancer.

Black Single Women Dating Should First Get Their Health Groove On

Factors that influence the obesity epidemic differ. North Americans are eating more than they did 50 years ago. Everywhere you see food advertisements.

Restaurants serve larger portions today (portion distortion). Americans are moving less. They work jobs that require less physical labor, and then come home and sit in front of the television, play video games, or are on tablets or computers.

Genetics often play a part in obesity. If a parent is obese, the likelihood of a child becoming obese is greater. According to the Food Research & Action Center, certain medical conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome, as well as prescription drugs, can promote weight gain.

Therefore Black single women dating should consider various strategies for weight loss, including decreasing calorie intake and increasing physical exercise.

Other strategies for weight loss include surgery. The adjustable gastric banding and the gastric sleeve restrict the amount of food that can be consumed. The gastric sleeve surgery is irreversible. The gastric bypass limits the amount of food consumed as well as the amounts of nutrients that can be absorbed.

Even if you’re not overweight, it’s good to know how health may be a major issue for others, including your date.

Black Single Women Dating in the Millennium Should Be Aware of Health Issues That Affect Millions

One does not have to be overweight in order to have health challenges. Anorexia nervosa is an eating disorder characterized by self-starvation, a distorted body image, abnormally low body weight, and an extreme fear of becoming fat. Health problems associated with anorexia nervosa include symptoms of starvation:

  • apathy
  • dullness
  • exhaustion
  • depression
  • muscle wasting
  • cardiac irregularities

Treatment includes resolving the underlying psychological and behavioral problems. It also includes physical, and nutritional rehabilitation.

Black single women dating may have a condition known as bulimia nervosa. This is an eating disorder that involves frequent episodes of binge eating followed by self-induced vomiting—all done to avoid weight gain.

Frequent vomiting can cause tooth decay, sores in the mouth and on the lips, swelling of the jaw and salivary glands, irritation of the throat, broken blood vessels in the face, dehydration, and muscle weakness. Treatment includes reducing or eliminating bingeing and purging and promoting eating in response to hunger and satiety.

Binge-eating disorder is the most common eating disorder and is not uncommon in men. In this disorder there are recurrent episodes of binge eating and a loss of control regarding eating. Those who binge do not usually purge. Resulting health problems include:

  • diabetes
  • high blood pressure
  • high blood cholesterol levels
  • gallbladder disease
  • heart disease
  • some cancers

Treatment involves counseling to improve body image and self-acceptance, a nutritious reduced-calorie diet, increased exercise, and behavior therapy to reduce bingeing.

Since dating is all the buzz now, it pays for Black single women dating—and all women and men too—to make sure they’re in prime condition before stepping out.

If they’re not exactly where they are in terms of their health, they can do an assessment. For the best dating experiences, before she even thinks about putting on that lipstick, she should make sure she’s on point with her health.
